Everyone can stop using "pouring" when they mean "poring". Right now.
pore: verb [ intrans. ] ( pore over/through) be absorbed in the reading or study of : Heather spent hours poring over cookbooks.
• archaic think intently; ponder : when he has thought and pored on it.
ORIGIN Middle English : perhaps related to peer 1 .
"Pour" is a transitive verb. It requires a direct object. If you are pouring over something, you need to tell me what is being poured. Water? Coffee? Incubation buffer?

apple cider
ground lamb
cheddar
colby w/hot pepper
yams
carrot
The lamb and the carrot went into a curry with some also-local chard, broccoli, and spinach (and garlic and onion) that I'd had from the co-op. Yum. Also, Stellar apples really are stellar. Much like honeycrisps.
I saw, but did not buy, orange cauliflower. (The same people also had white cauliflower and the amazing-looking green-and-pointy Italian cauliflower.) And I learned that the cheese that I like is now available at Mariposa.

Anyone know anything about cacti with really, really fine needles that could potentially be used for dissection tools? I'm told there are some that are finer than the tungsten needles that we've been using.
Check out this panda-cam! Baby pandas are sooooo cute!
I love this picture.
But I'm not sure whether it's better or worse (as a sign of the state of the world) than the picture that

I headed out to the Rittenhouse market for apples (honeycrisps, a star, and a summer blaze) and asian pears. Nothing else, 'cause I won't really have time to do more this week than cook with leftover veggies.
The other week, when I was cashiering at the co-op, I tried a couple of sodas with green tea in them. The ginger ale was okay, but the root beer was really quite good. So consider this a recommendation for the SteaZ root beer.
I stopped at the farmers' market on my way to lab this morning...there weren't quite as many stands as usual, probably because of the rain. I still made out pretty well, though, except that I'd meant to buy potatoes.
banana sourdough
four-seed cookie
tomatillos (which come with a hot pepper)
eggplant
basil
Did I mention the purple kale that one of my labmates brought in for me? I'm excited. My plan for this afternoon is to cook and generally putter around my apartment. And enjoy the long-sleeve weather.

Last Saturday, I was really late getting to the farmers' market, and I was on my way to work, so I just got apples.
(I also picked up some local kale at the co-op on...Tuesday? And tofu, but that's less seasonal.)
Yesterday, I left work early with a plan of going contra dancing and stopped at the market on the way home. I got plums (for plum butter!), asian pears (!!!), honeycrisps (good apples), summer blazes (okay apples), and red-and-green bell peppers.

The pizza in the cafeteria is actually pretty decent. Mmm, broccoli.

Does anyone have a copy of clarisworks on a still-functional computer? Any chance you'd be willing to try opening a text file that I haven't looked at in about three years but would like to have in an updated format? My computer says it can't read the file (either of two versions) because it's too old (the file, that is, not my computer); my mom's computer has said that both files are corrupted.
Failing that, does anyone (
chlomar?) have a readable copy of the wordlist for the Swarthmore roundsinging group?

I have discovered that the spicy pickles I love (sold at the farmers' market) are available cheaper at the co-op, so I got some there the other day. Same with the sandwich bread I like.

half loaf of banana sourdough
cabbage
asian eggplant
eggplant
red & green splotchy peppers
purple beans
corn!
pattypan squash
yellow squash
3 stems of zinnia
blueberries
I also bought a loaf of multigrain bread at the co-op, when the Slow Rise Bakery guy brought over what didn't sell at the market. And I just missed buying some raspberries--they were sold out by 10:10 (at a market that opens at 10).

It makes me happy that the coffee version of the fancy new shakes at Wawa is remarkably like the frozen cappuccino that they used to have.
